Jamie comes from a functionally dysfunctional family of interesting characters. She has a few childhood friends she has known forever and makes some close new friends when she starts her job as an intern in the white house. Things quickly get complicated and before long she’s started an illicit liaison with the most powerful man in the world. When opposing parties seek to impeach the president, Jamie’s world will be flipped upside down.
This novel was reminiscent of a certain well known scandal during the Clinton administration. While the affair was wrong on many levels, I could not help but feel for Jamie and despite the circumstances, I still found her to be a likable character. Part of what makes Jamie a successful character was the well done narration. Emily Sutton-Smith is a very believable “Jamie”. She does her voice and the story narration exceedingly well. I found this book intriguing and easy to listen to. It held my interest and my curiosity to see what would happen next.
