Laney Holt is a preacher’s daughter. A good girl. Her only goal was to get married, have babies, and live happily ever after, just like her parents. Only that didn’t happen. The two people closest to her betrayed her, and Laney’s dreams came crashing down. Now she’s left with an empty space she doesn’t know how to fill. Until she meets Jake Theopolis, a daredevil with a death wish who has heartbreaker written all over him.
Jake has no interest in thinking beyond the here and now. All he wants out of life is the next rush, the next “feel-good” thing to keep his mind off the pain of his past. His latest rush? Showing Laney there’s more to life than being a good girl - and that going bad can be so much fun. Her only concern now is how she can ever hope to satisfy the wild side of a boy like Jake. But she’ll give it everything she’s got. And so will Jake.
M.Leighton writes the best books ever, and after reading/listening to all her books, you know this one was right up my ally. This is book #2 of the "The Wild One's Series. This is Laney Holt's story. Laney Holt is the preachers' daughter. The good doer. The one friend that keeps everyone out of trouble. She didn't do trouble. She had daddy watching her. Except when she meets him, Jake Theopolis. The town's bad boy, the one your daddy says stay away from. Years past, and Laney runs face to face with Jake. Her job was to inspect his farm land , his orchard.
Laney doesn't want to be the good girl anymore, and why not jump shit with Jake - the one man that she can go wild with and show her bad self. Except, shes the preachers daughter that just left her engagement. Everyone judged Jake, could her dad and the town get past that Jake is a decent person, and someone that could take care of Laney? Jake doesn't do relationships, but something about Laney draws himself into her and never wanting to let go...
This story was awesome to listen to, Amy McFadden is one of my favorite narrators, and she gets into the roll of Laney from start to finish- with the help of a well written story from M.Leighton, this was one book that was enjoyable. This book had passion, steamy sex, some parts were sad but funny. The narrator put on that southern accent and forget it, it draws me every time!
