Cage West is the son of the president of the Hell's Horsemen. Tall and blond with deep brown eyes, as he grows up Cage realizes the power of his dimpled smile and smooth drawl. With one chance encounter, Tegen becomes forever tied to Cage.
Following is a wayward journey that is filled with regrets, mistakes, and heartache, pulling at the threads that hold them together. Cage and Tegen fight hard but love harder, and in the end, what matters is where the journey takes one girl and one boy, who have been twined with one another since the beginning.
In this audiobook, we are treated to two couples love stories. The first is about Tegan and Cage and the other about Ellie and Dirty. This is the 3rd book about the Hill’s Horsemen Motorcyle Club and all the usual characters from the previous books return with the continuation of their stories as well.
Tegan and Cage: This storyline was interesting. Tegan was interesting-piercings everywhere, tattooed up, gauged ears, dreadlocks, and major attitude to round out the picture. She’s a very refreshing, gritty lead character! Tegan, returns home to Montana to help her mom. She has major reservations about seeing Cage since she left for California to get away from him and the club. She’d been in love with him since she was 8, but he treated her like a club whore after he took her virginity one drunken night. Self preservation says she needs to hate him and his club. Of course, as fate would have it, she runs into him at a family dinner he wasn’t supposed to be at. Fighting ensues, yelling goes on, and then the angsty sex starts. Both have feelings for each other and war with themselves as to why they do. After Deuce steps in unbeknownst to Cage, Tegan takes off with no explanations. Cage is up in arms after she is gone. I was rooting for them but, in my opinion, Cage does no romancing of Tegan at all. He just expected her to act a certain way and when she didn’t, the fighting started. Misunderstandings abound and Cage plummets off the deep end. Deuce screwed up and he knows it. Now he needs to correct it.
Ellie and Dirty: Now this was the better story of the book. Ellie is assaulted and Dirty finds her. What happens is unexpected by both. Ellie looks to him for safety and comfort. Dirty finds he likes her around, but is struggling with his past that is so horrid, he’s afraid he will hurt Ellie. Dirty starts to see she is different. She’s not like other women and she isn’t going to hurt him. Their relationship builds very slowly, but it’s so sweet.
As in the 2 previous books, this is a motorcycle club who is on the wrong side of the law. Crime is how they make their money. Lots of foul language, drugs, and violence. Lots of sex-gritty and raw sex. If you are a hearts and flowers fan, this is not for you. But if you like your men raw around the edges, messed up in one way shape or form, and a female lead that doesn’t take crap, then give this a try!
I reviewed this as an audiobook. The quality of the narration is very good! She could change characters within a scene quite easily. It was evenly spoken and she was very expressive. She could evoke sadness and suspense within the book. My only complaint was that all the men sounded the same. They all had raspy-type voices, very little variation. Yes bikers can be gritty but it was harder to distinguish between them when a few were talking together.
