Long live the king....
After turning his back on the throne for centuries, Wrath, son of Wrath, finally assumed his father's mantle - with the help of his beloved mate. But the crown sets heavily on his head. As the war with the Lessening Society rages on, and the threat from the Band of Bastards truly hits home, he is forced to make choices that put everything - and everyone - at risk.
Beth Randall thought she knew what she was getting into when she mated the last pure blooded vampire on the planet: An easy ride was not it. But when she decides she wants a child, she's unprepared for Wrath's response - or the distance it creates between them.
The question is, will true love win out... or tortured legacy take over?
As a dedicated fan of all that is JR Ward and Black Dagger Brotherhood, I was beyond PSYCHED(!!) when the WARDen announced that this installment would be about Wrath and Beth! I, along with a lot of others, have been waiting for this storyline.
In true WARDen fashion, the book is not centered on just Beth and Wrath, but also Assail and Sola, Xcor and Layla and Trez and Selena. This is the way all of the BDB books are, so no surprise there. I do wish that we had a little more of Beth and Wrath, but I did enjoy the book. I liked the little snippets I got of the back stories.
The narrator, Jim Frangione, to me was an interesting choice. I have read all of the other books and I think his voice just didn’t match what I was expecting. His diction and tone were excellent. Everything was clear and understandable. He sounded maybe a little too proper. If you know the Brothers, like I like to think I do, then you know they drop F words and such left and right. “Motherf*cker” just didn’t sound right coming out so properly. I did find myself saying, “He wouldn’t have said it like that!” However, it did not make or break this audible. I still highly enjoyed listening to this book and will always recommend BDB!!
Recommend: Yes, but read the series from the beginning or you’ll be lost!
