A light-hearted fun story, guaranteed to make you smile.
Brothers Jake and Travis have grown up with Kacey the girl next door. Jake and Kacey have always been close friends. Travis has been the one Kacey refers to as “Satan”, the boy who pulled her hair and put frogs in her bed.
After a proposition from Jake, the now millionaire womanizer, Kacey finds herself returning home pretending to be engaged to one boy who long ago broke her heart, Jake, the boy she has not spoken to in over two years. Looking forward to seeing her adopted family, especially Grandma Nadine who has taken ill, she gets a surprise when Travis, her tormentor comes home as well. With one simple smile he makes Kacey’s heart beat a little faster, and an attention-grabbing love triangle begins.
I can’t even describe how much I enjoyed The Bet. The entertaining characters, and amusing fast passed storyline kept me engaged from the beginning to the end of this amazing audio book.
Kacey is so sweet and spicy at the same time, and her banter with Jake and especially with Travis had a smile glued to my face. It is Kacey’s relationship with the Titus boys that really made the story so captivating. Jake is a suit and tie kind of guy, he is one good looking and easy going man, who is majorly self-centered. But Jake is Kacey’s first love and best friend. Travis is a tee-shirt and jeans kind of guy, he is a sexy and complicated man, who is selfless and devoted. But Travis is the boy who tormented Kacey’s childhood. Kacey is in one confusing situation, making for one addicting story.
I saved my favorite character for last, Grandma Nadine, the woman behind making the reunion happen. Grandma Nadine is a feisty eighty year old woman, her carefree-eccentric attitude was hilarious. She really added to the overall story, and I loved her matchmaking. The best character ever!
The narration by Tanya Eby was great, she did a wonderful job with all the characters, and her smooth, sweet, and clear voice was enjoyable to listen to. The book is written in third person and makes a great audio book. I highly recommend this light-hearted fun story.
