Makenna Lewis cringes at any mention of the word commitment. She doesn’t want or need a relationship, but she does like sex (who doesn't).
That explains Noah, Sean, and Zander, her three 'friends with benefits'.
They know the score, they know they're not the only one, and each of them provide her with a different physical need that she craves and enjoys.
Until a late night encounter with the delicious Daniel Winters turns her preconceived notion of no-commitment completely on its head.
Soon she finds herself feeling things she vowed never to feel again, and when Daniel pushes for more than she’s willing to give, she falters.
What do you do when something that you’ve known to be so wrong in the past feels so damn right?
If you’re Mac, you run and hide.
But is Daniel the type of man who takes no for an answer?
After an awful relationship with her high school sweetheart, Beau, Makenna becomes a woman on a mission to never end up in a bad relationship again. Her solution: Noah, Zander, and Sean. These three sexy men each meet a different sexual need for the independent Mac. The “friends with benefits” situation works perfectly for commitment challenged Mac, and all is orgasms and uncomplicated temporary bliss, until delicious Daniel steps on the L and into Mac’s life. Daniel is the whole package and a man who does not give up easily. A sexy, steamy, story of self-discovery.
Torn is the one word to describe my feelings toward Temporary Bliss.
I had trouble relating to the bold and sometimes smug Makenna. She is a woman who knows what she wants and goes after it, the kind of woman who is so strong and complex, it is difficult to like her. Her character took some time to win me over. Don’t get me wrong I am all for having three sexy men, but Mac frustrated me. Especially in regards to the beautiful Daniel. Daniel (aka) Superman was smooth and almost too good to be true, successful, sexy, lovable, and the guy every girl dreams of having. I wanted to scream, “Mac open your eyes! Daniel is perfect for you!!!” Towards the end of the story I became softer toward Makenna, and I understood her more.
One of the supporting characters Kate, Mac’s best friend, was so interesting I felt I need to address her. Kate intrigued me with her easy going fun attitude. She made an awesome toast that I loved: “Here's to learning from life's mistakes and fixing fuck ups.” I hope we see more of Kate in the future.
The dialog in the story was my favorite part, it was witty, fun, and flowed easily. Mac’s inner dialog was the best, and at times had me laughing out loud. I would recommend Temporary Bliss for the person looking for a story that is different from most, and has amazing characters.
Lucy Rivers did a good job of portraying the smug confidence of Mac. I found myself wondering how much of my frustration with Mac came from the way Lucy spoke for her. She has a way with her smooth clear voice, it is easy to pick up the emotion in her words. Christian Fox narrated the epilogue written from Daniel’s POV. He was amazing, I wish I could hear more. His voice was sweet, sexy, and smooth. He was a perfect match for Daniel.
