When Harlow Manning’s rocker father goes on tour, he sends her to Rosemary Beach, Florida, to live with her half-sister, Nan. The problem: Nan despises her. Harlow has to keep her head down if she wants to get through the next nine months, which seems easy enough. Until gorgeous Grant Carter walks out of Nan’s room in nothing but his boxer briefs.
Grant made a huge mistake getting involved with a girl with venom in her veins. He’d known about Nan’s reputation, but still he couldn’t resist her. Nothing makes him regret the fling more than meeting Harlow, who sends his pulse racing. Yet Harlow wants nothing to do with a guy who could fall for her wicked half-sister - even if there are no strings between Grant and Nan. Grant is desperate to redeem himself in Harlow’s eyes, but did he ruin his chances before he even met her?
Loved it! Take a Chance captivated me right from the start. With duel narration and amazing narrators, I was hooked! Shayna Thibodeaux as Harlow fit perfectly. She has a quality to her voice that allows you to hear feelings, it is clear she felt connected to the character, and her emotion shined through. Her emotion is so evident, you can’t help but feel with her. Jack DuPont did a great job with Grant as well, you could feel his connection to the character, and I loved it when he narrated Kiro. Both Shayna and Jack used a different tones when narrating for different characters and it made it really easy to follow. Take a Chance is one of the best Audio books I have ever heard.
Harlow is sent to live with her wicked half-sister Nan, who pretty much hates her, as if living with the obnoxious Nan is not enough, Harlow is being pursued by Nan’s current bed buddy Grant. Grant is a smooth taking, confident, sexy man who is not used to being told NO. All Harlow wants to be left alone with her books, however, Grant has other plans for the introverted, shy, sweet girl. A sexy story with twists and turns, leaving you on the edge of your seat.
Amazing character development in this book! I really enjoyed both Grant and Harlow. Harlow has, as Grant describes, a “silent toughness”, she might be insecure, polite, and easy going, but she will not be pushed around, and I love her for it. Seeing her trying to resist, the irresistible, Grant is fascinating. Like Harlow, I really did not care much for Grant in the beginning. He was all over the place, cocky, desperate, and dirty. He started to grow on me with his passion for Harlow and his sweet words. He was so apologetic, and I fell for it. By the end of the book I became confused, and the jury is still out, regarding my feelings for Grant.
I am new to the Rosemary Beach Series and found I could still follow the story and characters. Take a Chance works as a standalone book, and I recommend it! I will warn you *** this book has some sizzling scenes! ***
