***received this audiobook for exchange for my honest review**

Secrets of a Runaway Bride is the delightful and fun sequel to Secrets of a Wedding Night, although it works just as well as a stand alone novel.   Annie Andrews wants nothing more than to marry the man she loves and start a family.  As the little sister, she’s lacked for attention and responsibility and is determined to show her older sister and the ton that she is all grown up.  Unfortunately her methods have proven to be quite risky to her reputation, so when her older sister Lilly and her husband leave town for a honeymoon, they appoint their good friend Jordan Holloway, Earl of Ashbourne to keep Annie out of trouble.

After Annie convinces the very shy Arthur Eggleston that they must marry post haste and runs with him to Gretna Green, Jordan realizes that keeping her under control may be harder than he anticipates.   Although Annie proclaims her love for Arthur, the young man seems quite unable to make up his mind about marriage.  His father disapproves of the match, but Annie is insistent on very publicly chasing him around.  Jordan knows all too well the heartache of misplaced affections and is trying hard to both protect Annie’s reputation and to save her from the great pain he experienced in the past.  As gossip picks up in the ton and Jordan is afraid she may make another Gretna Green run, he is left with little option but to remove Annie from London.  He decides to hide her at his country estate for seclusion until her sister returns.  The seclusion will keep her from embarrassing herself over Arthur, but Jordan fails to realize the danger in keeping her so close to his side.

Annie believes Jordan to be the most infuriating man.  Every time she comes up with a brilliant idea, he manages to thwart her plans.  However, the more time she spends with him the more she notices that when she closes her eyes it’s Jordan’s face she pictures instead of Arthurs.  Her original marriage plans had her in danger of ruining her reputation, but with Jordan she’s at risk for a much greater loss – her heart.  Jordan is a man who is a proclaimed bachelor and who doesn’t believe in love.  Annie, being the young sister-in-law of his best friend, is strictly off limits.  Jordan is determined to keep her out of his reach and Annie is equally determined to marry Arthur, but sometimes not getting what you wish for is the best possible outcome…

Justine Eyre does an outstanding job narrating this novel.   Her voice is appealing and her reading is smooth.  She captures the reader with her narration and adds depth to the novel.
