A year ago, Kate Corbin had a handsome boyfriend and a budding career as a reporter at a popular Chicago newspaper. But after the death of the woman who raised her, she fell into a rut and never got out. Now she's stuck writing fluff pieces about lipstick and wine and feeling trapped in a relationship that's going nowhere. Kate's boss gives her an intriguing assignment: spend a week interviewing R. J. Lawson, a modern-day Howard Hughes who recently reemerged as the owner of a well-respected Napa winery. But when she alienates Lawson, her only saving grace is Jamie, a charming vineyard hand who shows her the beauty of wine country - and stirs her aching heart. It doesn't take long for Kate and Jamie to fall hard and for Kate to rethink her life in the city. But the week ends with a heartbreaking journey back to Chicago that sends Kate reeling, wondering what went wrong in those four perfect days.

Nowhere but Here touched my heart with a beautiful tale of the power of true love. Kate and Jamie are remarkable characters, and I enjoyed their story.
Kate, a young reporter, is sent on assignment to The R.J. Lawson Winery in Napa. Her objective for the story is to interview, the mysterious tech genius, R.J. Lawson. To discover why he disappeared from the public eye, and how he found himself running an award winning winery. What Kate discovers is her distaste for the man, but her love for the Napa Winery especially its staff-hand Jamie. Jamie is a complex, jack of all trades, who happens to be just what Kate needs to escape from the lonely life she has been leading. Although R.J. Lawson leaves a sour taste in Kate’s mouth, Jamie’s sweet passionate attitude wins the heart of the beautiful reporter. Jamie and Kate fall hard for one another, until one night when everything falls apart and Kate finds herself heartbroken.
I love these characters. Renee Carlino has a way of making her characters take life, and making the reader fall in love with them.
Kate has had a difficult life with little family and plenty of loss. I adored her inquisitive sassy attitude. The relationships she has built in her life are strong and she values each of them. Kate is all around an amazing relatable character. Jamie is one heck of a man, I loved his passion, and his caring attitude. I really appreciated his need to help those less fortunate. He won my heart right along with Kate’s.
When Jamie and Kate are together the pages spark with electricity. You can almost feel the need they share for one another. Nowhere but Here is a defiantly a heartfelt story, I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a romance in a breath taking setting.
Nowhere but Here is read by Amy Landon, with Zach Villa. Amy Landon has a very clear voice, and her emotions are apparent throughout the story. I enjoyed her most when she was reading for Jamie, or secondary characters. Zach Villa read the epilogue from Jamie’s Point of View and I really enjoyed it. I wish I could have heard more of his pleasant voice. Overall a good audio book.
