And at the center of it all is the gang's leader, Grizz: massive, ruggedly handsome, terrifying, and somehow, when it comes to Ginny, tender. So begins a tale of emotional obsession and manipulation, of a young woman ripped from everything she knows. Precocious and intelligent but still very much a teenager, Ginny struggles to adapt to her existence, initially fighting and then coming to terms with her captivity. Will she be rescued? Will she escape? Will she get out alive - or get out at all?
The only reason why I gave this 4 stars was because I couldn't understand why she didn't escape. This book was all about a Dirty, gritty MC club. Just like your synopsis above reads, Ginny Lemon is 15 years old, and gets taken by a gang member of a brutal, and when I say brutal I mean it, not fluff here, motorcycle club.
Beth Flynn takes you years, and years worth of captivity, but during those times, Ginny develops a tad bit of Stockholm Syndrome. There are sooo many answers I want answered, things that didn't make sense, things that make you wonder if you read the whole book just to get to the end of the book and wonder what you just read. However, I did read the synopsis for the next book Out of Time which is book #2 of the Nine Minutes series, and it answers ALL your questions.
The narrator Monique Makena did a good job, not great but as I was getting knee deep in the story I adjusted to her voice and the characters she portrayed.
