After moving past her painful breakup with Xander years ago, Ivy was poised to become the next big name in music, when suddenly she withdrew from the limelight - the same day she announced her engagement to her controlling agent, Damon Wolf. Xander knows he should keep his distance. But once they're on the road, he can't resist pursuing her for a second chance. Yet a jealous Damon can't let her go - and he's keeping dangerous secrets that could destroy them all.
Kim Karr has done it again! Mended is a perfect addition to the Connected Series, but can be read as a standalone story also.
Manager of the Band, Wilde Ones, Xander, has his life under control, and lives by a plan. On tour with the band things are going great, and Xander is living the dream. The tour is off and running smoothly until the lead singer becomes ill and is no longer able to sing. The band finds themselves one member shy of a successful tour.
Singer Ivy Taylor was raised to be famous, a beautiful girl with a great voice, although music was not the career her mother wanted for Ivy, Ivy loved music and has followed her dream of being a singer. Engaged to her agent, Damon Wolfe, Ivy’s music has taken a backseat. After realizing she is not happy being with Damon, she breaks off her engagement. Seeing an opportunity to reclaim her independence, Ivy decides, she should join the Wilde Ones and complete the tour.
There is only one problem with Ivy joining the Wilde Ones tour, she and Xander were once high school sweethearts, who were torn apart by a series of misunderstandings and life shattering events. As if seeing your ex is not awkward enough, a tour bus takes uncomfortable to whole new level. Xander knows being on tour with the only woman he has ever loved would be difficult, but with few other options, he agrees to have Ivy join the tour. Mended takes you on a journey into a world full of twists and turns.
My emotions were all over the map with Mended. Kim Karr has a way of drawing you into the characters and making you feel right along with them, and the duel narrators, Christian Fox and Veronica Meunch made the feelings even stronger. Xander always so in control, closed off, and intense was portrayed perfectly by Christian. Most of Mended is told from Xander’s Point of View, and Christian’s smooth controlled voice did a fabulous job of making Xander come alive. I really enjoyed Veronica as Ivy, I felt her connection to the character and thought she did a great job of making Ivy’s feelings clear.
Confused, Excited, Sad, Worried, Frustrated, Mad, Happy, and Hopeful, Mended touched each of these emotions, making one exceptional story. I highly recommend Xander and Ivy’s story!
