For five years, Ty was imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit. Now he wants revenge on the people who framed him. Yet when the high-stakes poker player sees the leggy Lexie, he suddenly has other desires on his mind. Realizing that Ty is innocent, Lexie tries to stop his plan for vengeance and help him become a better man. But as Ty battles his inner demons, dirty cops and criminals plot to take him out, can he and Lexie find a way to escape the past?
An outstanding story of healing, moving on, and realizing what in life is truly important.
5 years of serving time for a crime he did not commit, Ty Walker walks out of the penitentiary, and straight into Lexie Berry’s life. Lexie has not been on good terms with lady luck, raised in a hard life, losing her boyfriend to murder, and now under the thumb of her decided boyfriend’s brother, Shift. Lexie, sent by Shift, finds herself at the penitentiary on a mission to take Ty where ever he needs to go. One look at the gorgeous giant black man, and Lexie knows she is in trouble. Ty has thoughts of revenge, 5 years of thoughts to be exact, but the beautiful and classy Lexie has Ty’s thoughts veering from revenge to lust.
As Lexie and Ty get to know one another, one thing becomes clear for Lexie, she wants to help to make Ty a better man, and help him clear his name. Knowing he is innocent she will stand behind the closed off man, and help to open him up to the future. With the past trying to pull them down, Lexie and Ty have one enormous battle to fight.
Lady Luck is an incredibly intense story, filled with amazing characters, and heart stopping moments. Ty and Lexie have one crazy complex relationship, yet are perfect for one another. These characters completely consumed my thoughts, making it difficult to put Lady Luck down. Lexie is one amazingly sweet, smart, and sassy character. She gives so much of herself and does it happily. My favorite thing about Lexie is her “sass.” Absolutely loved how quickly she became sassy when anyone threatened the family she created for herself. Ty grew on me as the story progressed, I loved his passion for Lexie, how he gave his all to provide for his family, and how he was a man of few words, which said so much. He changed throughout the story and I enjoyed seeing him open up, and the man he once was come back to life. There were moments while listening to Lady Luck, where I had to pause as my emotions were taking over, moments where my heart beat faster, and I needed to know what would happen next. The narrator, Emma Taylor did a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life, she told the story in a way that made it easy to get lost in the story.
I absolutely loved Lady Luck, I am new to the Colorado Mountain series and to Kristen Ashley’s books, and I can honestly say I am now a fan. Kristen Ashley doesn’t hold back, she is honest and she is blunt. **As a result Lady Luck contains harsh language, is longer than most books, and covers the controversial topic of racial discrimination.** Kristen Ashley’s honesty won me over, I love the fact that she built the story from beginning to end, giving plenty of detail and completely painting a picture of the story.
Lady Luck can be read as a standalone book. I highly recommend this story!!! By the way Lady Luck has some very detailed sizzling hot bedroom scenes.
