A second chance at life…
A second chance at love…
Jared Holt never thought he deserved either—until he found both in the arms of Aly Moore. Aly has loved Jared for as long as she can remember, and she’s more than ready for the future they’re making together. But Jared can’t help remembering his own family. And he’ll never forgive himself for what happened to them. How can he allow himself the very happiness he once destroyed?
To live a life worthy of Aly, Jared knows he has to stop running and finally put his past to rest. But when he decides to face his demons head on, he encounters more than he bargained for: a dangerous mix of jealousy, lies, and dishonest intentions. When those intentions threaten Aly, Jared loses all control, giving into the rage that earned him his bad boy reputation years before. And he’ll fight to protect her no matter what it costs…even if he destroys himself in the process.
This is a very enjoyable sequel to those who loved Come to Me Quietly. Both books need to be read in order for this one to make sense. In Come to Me Softly, Jackson gives a glimpse into the lives of the much loved sweet heroine Aly Moore and the devastatingly handsome, yet broken Jared Holt.
Although Jared came back to Aly at the end of the first book, still have many challenges to face. How to handle the pregnancy and becoming parents, where to live, how to break the news to Aly’s parents, and how Jared can move past the ghosts and pain that haunt his past. The characters are well written and reminiscent of the young characters in their early 20s that the story portrays. It shows how strong their love is, but also how great the obstacles are that still cut Jared to the core. If he can’t get past his role in his mother’s death, he will never be able to be the fully present father he’ll need to be for this new baby.
The narration is excellent. Tanya Eby has a beautifully soft and graceful voice and the story flows seamlessly. She portrays the innocent and delicate Aly to perfection. Sean Crisden is an equally strong narrator and a believable voice for the rugged, struggling Jared. His voice is easy to listen to and the story just wraps around the reader engaging them in the novel.
There wasn’t anything unpredictable in this story and the plot was very straight forward, but it’s a wonderful sequel to anyone who enjoyed the first book and just wanted to hear more.
