The instant Piper Allen sees Erik Titov, she wants him—wants his rock-hard body, sure, but the strength and mystery that lies behind that superstar hockey jock demeanor, too. So when he sidles up to her at a bar and slinks his arm around her waist, she’s lost. What follows is the wildest night of her life . . . followed by inevitable heartbreak the next morning. And then, a few weeks later, a very big surprise: two blue lines on a pregnancy test.
Only a check to the head could make Erik fall for a nice girl like Piper. But since their crazy-sexy night together, he’s been trying to forget about her alluring body by falling into bed with every woman in Nashville, and it’s not working. So when Piper shows up at his house with a baby-bomb to drop, it doesn’t take much for Erik to suggest the nuclear option: marriage. While it’s supposed to be all for show, the second they say “I do,” the ice between them starts to melt into sizzling steam.

Piper Allen has always had a thing for the hunky hockey star Erik Titov. He’s tall, strong, and devastatingly good looking. He’s also a major playboy, but on the night his eyes turn to her, Piper decides to throw caution to the wind and enjoy a steamy passionate night she will never forget. Little does she know that that night will change her world.
After their whirlwind encounter, Erik redoubles his efforts sleeping with every girl he can find. He needs to erase Piper from his thoughts, and what better way to do so then seeking his pleasure with other women? Something about Piper has gotten under his skin and he knows he must run. He must run to avoid hurting her, to avoid feeling too much, to avoid becoming the man his father was. After a traumatic childhood, Erik has no desire to ever settle down. He’ll do best if he keeps moving and living the party life. However all that comes to a halting stop a few months later when Piper shows up on his door step… to tell him she’s pregnant.
With his career on the line, Erik makes a business agreement with Piper … get married and pretend to be a happy couple until the baby is born then they can both go their own ways and tell their friends and family they at tried. Erik will have couple of months to restore his damaged reputation and save his spot on the team and Piper will have a couple of months to convince the man she has fallen for that she is worth the risk of love. Will Erik with his hurtful words and actions push her away or will Piper be able to break down his walls? For Erik there ends up being much more than a career and reputation on the line … he risks losing his heart, and Piper risks having hers broken by the only man she’s ever truly desired.
The story is engaging and interesting. I have not read the previous books in this series, but even so the book read well on its own. Erik starts off as an angry, condescending guy that is very hard to be fond of, however as the story develops and the reader gets a glimpse into his past, he grows into a leading man you can cheer for. Piper is a very loyal and patient person, but she also gives Erik an earful when he’s earned it. Both characters balance each other nicely.
The audio version, narrated by Lucy Malone is very well done. She does Piper beautifully with her sweet voice and emotion that perfectly matches the character. Erik is a tougher role with his Russian accent, but she masters that well. The audiobook flows evenly and is a pleasure to listen to.
