Kaitlyn might be the only girl who isn't interested in exploiting Martin's stunning rower's build, chiseled features, and family's billionaire fortune. Kaitlyn wants Martin for his brain, specifically to tabulate findings of trace elements in surface water.
When Kaitlyn saves Martin from a nefarious plot, Martin uses the opportunity to push Kaitlyn out of her comfort zone: spring break, one week, house parties, bathing suits, and suntan lotion. Can she overcome her aversion to being noticed? Will he be able grow beyond his self-centered nature? Or, despite their obvious chemistry, will Martin be the one to drive Kaitlyn into the science cabinet of obscurity for good?
Kaitlyn Parker is a smart, honest, and sweet girl. She enjoys school work, reading, and hiding to avoid being noticed. Marten Sandeke is a smart popular athlete. He comes from a wealthy family and can have his pick of girls. He enjoys parties, girls, and likes being in the "in crowd."
When Parker overhears a plot to take Sandeke out, she has no choice but to warn him. Marten is so taken with Kaitlyn he convinces her to go away with him for spring break. When these opposites attract with a chemistry that can't be denied things are bound to explode.
Penny Reid is so good with character description I could not help but fall in love with her characters. I adore Parker's personality. She is a nerd and proud of it. She has awesome life rules that made me smile, and a quirky personality that made me laugh. Marten's interest in Parer is such a mystery to her, but she can't seem to resist his charm. I found him irresistible well, and I wanted Kaitlyn to give him a chance. The chemistry between the two could be felt throughout the story. I loved the entire book until an unexpected ending left me wanting more.
A great narrator and a great author make for an awesome audiobook. Cris Dukehart did a fabulous job. She is absolutely perfect for Parker! I LOVE her sweet innocent voice. She keeps you interested and really brings the characters to life. I can't wait to hear more of her work. Her voice is so smooth and clear it is pleasurable to listen to.
Elements of Chemistry is a perfect 5 star start to the series. I can't wait to get my hands on the second book, and see where the story will take me. I am dying to know what happens next. I recommend this story!
